They caught me...

Sunday, mid morning... I was thinking.

I was thinking and washing clothes... I was mostly thinking.

My multi-tasking  marvel was undetected by even myself for "I don't know how long"... well, until I got caught.

Innocently, I was watching the swirly thing digesting the socks; dissolving every second one.  I was watching the shirts roll by... leaving one arm waving at the top... pleading to be saved... unnoticed... after all, I was thinking.

The deep denim blue jeans were mingling, ever so gregariously, with someone's white shirt... it was getting more bluey/gray each time it reached for help... still, to no avail.  I was still thinking...

In the days gone by, I'd do this thinking whilst doing "mindless circles" on a farm tractor pulling something across the flat clear fields of soil in Alberta... hours would go by, and as long as the critter behind pulled like a cat by the tail, and the diesel didn't start making funny sounds... time flew, and I was thinking...

I used to do my thinking while doing dishes by hand... plates, cups, handfuls of cutlery... change water and go again... never aware of time or keeping a log of my thoughts... just thinking... and then we bought a dish washer about 3 yrs ago. *sigh*  It's a great place to store the dishes in and out of the cleaning cycle... but... no more thinking doing dishes...

So, Sunday, I was discerning the laundry bubbles and swirls, reading my future and conjuring up ever changing, but linked chains of thought... it was nice, peaceful, calm and my own little mental vacation... one of the grandkids missed me... came in the kitchen, and found me.  He said I scared him... he thought I'd had a stroke just standing there.  I told him I was ok... never better.  Closed the lid, shoulder touched him, & we walked together, into the living room.  He told everyone he caught G'pa... thinking again!

T'was nice while it lasted... but I can't go on scaring the little ones... even on All Saints' Eve!!  : )
